Douthat State Park Millboro, Virginia

Douthat State Park (pronounced “doubt-that”) is a gem in the Appalachian Mountains of south central Virginia. Douthat State Park is called Mountain Bikers Disneyland IMBA Epic. The highlight of any ride is the climb up to the Tuscarora Overlook cabin, where one can look back on the 1,500 feet of elevation gained climbing out of the park valley. Other must-do trails include Middle Mountain, Brushy Hollow and Beard’s Gap.

Douthat State Park, one of Virginia’s most beautiful parks, straddles Bath and Alleghany counties. The park is on the National Register of Historic Places. Douthat is one of the original six Virginia State Parks that opened on June 15, 1936. It’s nestled in the Allegheny Mountains and features some of Virginia’s most outstanding scenery.

Douthat is well-known for its delightful, inviting campsites, some offering a splendid view of Douthat Lake, 50 acres of swimming, boating and trout fishing.
