Natural Bridge, Virginia

Home of Mother Nature’s enormous and breathtaking rock bridge of Rockbridge County, Natural Bridge sits in the southern end of the Shenandoah Valley flanked by the Blue Ridge mountains. Once among our nation’s most visited natural wonders, it is  known as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the Modern World.

The sight of the bridge and its mass is breathtaking! The fissure, just at the bridge, is approximately 270 feet deep. It is about 45 feet wide at the bottom, and 90 feet at the top. Its breadth in the middle, is about 60 feet, but more at the ends, and the thickness of the mass at the summit of the arch is about 40 feet.

The Natural Historic Landmark inspired the Monacan Indians to worship it, George Washington to survey it, Thomas Jefferson to purchase it, and artists to paint, illustrate  and photograph it!
